Why a tall dog boot with double Velcro?

Some dogs experience chafing around the dewclaw with "regular" dog boots. This can be avoided by covering the dewclaw. This solution easily solves the problem by fastening the lower Velcro strap around the "wrist" and the upper Velcro strap over the dewclaw. Double Velcro - twice as secure.

Velcro

Seleverkstedet dog boots do not have elastic Velcro. This is because we find that dog boots with elastic Velcro are more likely to fall off during use. If they are tightened slightly too much, the elastic Velcro can become too tight. This can restrict blood circulation in the joint if the dog is not constantly moving. If they are not tightened tightly enough, there will always be some elasticity left, allowing the Velcro to slip over the paw when the dog steps down into the snow or pushes off firmly.

Using Dog Boots

After putting on the boot, lift the other leg so that the dog stands properly on the leg with the boot on – then it is easier to see if the boot fits. It should not be too tight around the paw, nor should it hang loosely. Lift the leg with the boot on, tug on the boot, and make sure it does not slip over the paw.

Make the Boots Last Longer

Dog boots are a consumable item, but you can make them last longer with a few simple tricks. Long claws wear down dog boots, but can also be harmful to the dog. Brush the boots free of grit and make sure that no grit ever gets inside the boot.

NB! Once a boot has a hole in it, it can no longer be used. Otherwise, stones or snow may get inside the boot and cause injury to the dog's paw.
