Velcro straps

Seleverkstedet provides dog socks without elastic Velcro. This is because we have found that dog socks with elastic Velcro are more likely to fall off during use. If they are tightened slightly too much, there is a risk that the elastic Velcro will constrict too much. This can impede blood circulation in the joint if the dog is not in constant motion. If it is not tightened as hard, there will always be a bit of stretch left, which can cause the Velcro to slip over the paw when the dog steps into snow or pushes off hard.

Using dog socks

Once you have put the sock on, lift the other leg so the dog is standing properly on the leg with the sock – this makes it easier to see if the sock fits. It should not be too tight around the paw, nor should it be loose and hanging. Lift up the leg with the sock, tug on it, and ensure that it does not slide off the paw.

Prolonging the life of the socks

Paw socks are a consumable item, but you can extend their lifespan with simple tricks. Long nails wear out paw socks but can also be harmful to the dog. Keep nails short and file them lightly after trimming. Brush the socks free of gravel and ensure that there is never gravel inside the sock.

NB! Once a hole has appeared in a sock, it can no longer be used. There is then a risk that stones or snow can get inside the sock and cause injury to the dog's paw.
