Velcro straps

Seleverkstedet supplies dog socks without elastic velcro. This is because we have found that dog socks with elastic velcro tend to fall off more easily during use. If they are tightened slightly too much, there is a risk that the elastic velcro will constrict too much. This can hinder blood circulation in the joint if it is not in constant motion. If they are not tightened as firmly, there will always be some elasticity left, allowing the velcro to slip over the paw when the dog steps into snow or pushes off hard.

Using dog socks

Once you have put on the sock, lift the other leg so the dog is standing properly on the leg with the sock on – this makes it easier to see if the sock fits. It should not be too tight around the paw, nor should it hang loose. Lift the leg with the sock on, tug the sock, and ensure that it does not slip off the paw.

Give your paw socks a longer life

Paw socks are a consumable item, but you can extend their lifespan with simple tricks. Long nails wear out paw socks, but can also be harmful to the dog. Keep nails short and file them lightly after trimming. Brush the socks free of gravel and ensure there is never any gravel inside the sock.

NB! Once a hole has appeared in a sock, it can no longer be used. There is a risk that stones or snow can get inside the sock and cause injury to the dog's paw.
